Top Ten Farm Photos ~ Winter 2017 – 2018

March 23, 2018 8 Comments

And just like that, another season has flown by us! Even though we have a blizzard outside today, Spring is officially here and before we know it, we will be tilling and planting! Here are the Top Ten Farm Photos ~ Winter 2017 – 2018.  In no particular order, here we go!  Which one is your favorite?

Winter Kitty

What would a Top Ten List be without our handsome Juan? This fluffy kitty loves to tag along no matter what we are doing outside.  Usually, he is right at our feet, rubbing the side of our legs and asking us to pet him.

Nature Walk

Whenever our temperatures aren’t in the deep freeze (we hit 46 below windchills this year!), I love to take walks around our farm and especially down by the creek.  There is so much beauty in each little plant, in the animals who make this farm their home, and in the way it all combines together with the earth, water and sky.

Tree Shadows

Ok, full disclosure, this photo of Tree Shadows is from last Winter.  But I didn’t make a Top Ten list last Winter and it is one of my all-time favorites!  A blanket of fresh snow is such a magical thing, and I love all the many shades of BLUE in this photo. 🙂

Winter Chiqui

Chiquitita had to spend most of the Winter recovering from her injuries in the house with us, but on warmer days we took her out for field trips to the barn yard.  She has since moved back into the hen house, but the other hens beat her up so much that they all ended up in chicken prison!  (a penned off area of the hen house).  Hopefully they will get used to her again soon.  Her human family adores her, but she really needs a best chicken friend!

Rainbow Sherbet Sky

I have always loved the black silhouetted trees of Winter!  On this January morning, the sunrise was so colorful, it looked like Rainbow Sherbet!  It feels like nature is making up for the pretty flowers of Summer by giving us so much brilliance in the sky.

Winter Silence

So many animals are sleeping in this magical grey forest!  I wonder if my footsteps will touch their dreams.

Sugar Frosted Trees

My mother used to say, “Oh look! The trees have all been frosted with sugar!”  I think of her every time I see frosted trees.

Snow Kitty

All winter we had cold temperatures but not much snow!  I kept telling the kids, “Just wait until March.” And sure enough, we finally got our Winter Wonderland!  I thought Tigger should get back in the barn, but he wanted to go for a walk with me!

Asparagus Seeds

Did you know Asparagus seeds were such a brilliant red color?  Neither did I!  Last fall, my neighbor gave these to me.  I’m saving them in a dish to plant next month, but it was fun to make a little Winter Nature Art with them. 🙂

Winter’s Icy Grip

I think I am finally ready for Spring to arrive, but I have to admit that I am so thankful to live in a part of the country that truly experiences Winter.  I hope you have enjoyed these Winter Farm Photos!  Please comment and let me know which one is your favorite!
