If you ever need to know how to give antibiotics to a chicken (or any bird), hopefully this short video will help. Disclaimer: I am not a veterinarian. I’m just a hobby farmer who loves her animals and wants to help them the best I can. First, hold the chicken securely, but not too tightly. I just sit on the floor and hold the chicken between my knees. Second, GENTLY put one hand behind the chicken’s head and use your thumb and forefinger to hold her beak open. Be careful not to pull her head away from her neck or she could die. Next, put the syringe tip on her tongue and slowly administer about 1 cc at a time. This should help to minimize her aspirating the antibiotics. Above all, take your time and be patient. It really does get easier with practice.
