Depending on how much you want to spoil your favorite gardener, 7 Must Have Gifts for the Gardeners on Your List is your short cut to gifts any gardener will LOVE! Spoil them a little with one or two of these, or go nuts and get them everything! They will use these gifts to make the world a greener place! Here we go!
Garden Tool Set with Tote
Just looking at this Garden Tool Set (with Tote!) makes me feel all dreamy! This beautiful, high quality set comes with 6 great tools, including a weeder with a special V tine that cuts through compacted dirt and allows access to the root. The weeder also has a cantilever point in the middle making it easier to rock the root out. The tools, gloves, and a mister all come in an awesome tote that makes it easy to work around the garden and keep all your supplies in place!
Seeds!
Gardeners love seeds! The heirloom seeds in these sets are from Sustainable Seed, a trusted USDA Certified Organic seed company. The Herb Seed Collection (my favorite!) includes Basil, Chives, Cilantro, Dill, Lavender, Oregano, Parsley, Rosemary, Sage, and Thyme. They also have a Granny’s Garden Collection with great varieties of heirloom vegetable and fruit seeds. Good quality seeds can be expensive, but at right around $15 a set, these collections are a great deal.
Let’s Get Growing
Let’s Get Growing: A Dirt-Under-The-Nails Primer to Raising Vegetables, Fruits and Flowers Organically This is my favorite gardening book!! The easy-to-understand text and simple, line drawings are so helpful! This book will give your favorite gardener (beginner or advanced) excellent information and the confidence to grow food organically. Seriously, I can’t gush enough about this book. This gem is not that easy to find, but the link takes you to Amazon where you should be able to choose a new, hardcover copy.
TerraShield
Gardeners love working in the garden, but they don’t like getting bitten by bugs. TerraShield is a mild repellent made from botanical oils. We used to live in Minnesota, where the mosquitoes are almost as big as birds and come hovering over the horizon like helicopters. They laugh at your DEET and laugh as your children run, screaming, for the house. In situations like that, TerraShield can’t help you. But for normal days, when you don’t want or need enough chemicals to turn you into a Mutant Ninja Turtle, TerraShield is perfect.
I LOVE this product. I apply a small amount behind my ears, on the back of my neck, and on my forearms just about every time I work in the garden. This link takes you to a site where you can find TerraShield. This is another little gem that is more than worth the few extra clicks it takes to find it. On the homepage you’ll also find a link to contact Holly Vensel, who knows a ton about the other botanical oils offered. Holly is a delight to work with and is the least pushy salesperson you will ever meet.
Garden Hat
Many gardeners eat a lot of fresh, organic produce. This can keep them looking and feeling great. However, they also spend a lot of time out in the sun, and that can cause skin to age prematurely. The Sunday Afternoons Hat gets a big thumbs up from dermatologists for its 50+ UPF rating. It is a favorite among hikers because it is lightweight and comfortable, and it works great in the garden too. I’m not gonna lie, it’s not that cute. But hey, if it gives protection from sun damage, then your favorite gardener’s skin will look cute for a lot longer, right?
Sunscreen
In addition to wearing a hat, gardeners should always use sunscreen. This Moisturizer With SPF 30 by Oil of Olay protects and hydrates skin and fights signs of aging with Vitamin B3. It performs as well as, or better than, several high-end brands. For those who think this product is only for women, think again! According to the Annals of Internal Medicine, using sunscreen every day can slow the aging process by 24 percent! Another top moisturizer for men is MD Solar Sciences Daily Anti-Aging SPF 30 Moisturizer.
Gardening Gloves
Gardeners need gloves! Last week we weeded the raspberry patch and removed all the old canes. My hands would have been shredded without gloves. Atlas Nitrile Garden Gloves are super comfortable, super tough, can be tossed in the washing machine, and are surprisingly affordable! They come in really handy when you are planting and especially when you are weeding and don’t want to get slivers and stickers in your hands. If you don’t prefer pastel colors, they also come in black.
Gardeners Will Love These Gifts!
And there you have it! No matter what time of year, gardeners will love these gifts! If it is gardening season, they will put the gifts to good use right away. If it is not, trust me, gardeners are already dreaming and scheming about the next garden season and all the new things they want to try. So share this list, spoil a gardener, and make the world a greener place! 🙂
